How to FTP
Internet FTP (file transfer protocol) is an effective and timely method for sending production files to Balmar. As a direct point-to-point file transfer, users are not susceptible to the delays and vagaries of Internet e-mail systems.

Compress Files
Compressing your files reduces transfer time to Balmar's FTP site as well as keeps files in a more manageable size. Also, when compressing, keep in mind that the compressed files should be created from the original application files.
Macintosh users please note: You must create a self-extracting archive that must then be bin-hexed using bin-hex 4.0 protocols.
All Users please note: If you have any questions about compression, please first ask your firm's Help Desk. If you do not have a help desk, or are stuck, call Balmar for assistance in compression.
